Background
Animal Freedom website, foundation, translations and donations
Animal Freedom is the website of a foundation
under the same name and with the same
objectives. On the website international volunteers
exchange legal ideas about ending factory farming and
promoting animal
rights.
Animal Freedom can be regarded as a virtual
community and tries to unite and support people
all over the world that agree with freedom as a "portal"
to animal rights.
The site has an editor (Bert Stoop, psychologist and
researcher) and an advisor (Tina de Vries, dietician).
Many volunteers from a great many countries comment
on the articles, supply background information and help
us make translations to other languages.
The foundation board has 3 members. Click here
for the relevant regulations in the statutes.
The site was started to promote the right
to freedom for animals rather than base animal
rights on the concept of "intrinsic
value". Because of the vagueness of this
concept it is considered a waste of time to try
to promote intrinsic value to the public. Just
as it is the case for human rights, animal rights
should unconditionally be acknowledged and based
on freedom (to perform natural behavior). Moreover,
all animals with a central nervous system are
considered to have equal rights.

We have no relation with the Animal
Liberation Front.
Although there is a possible confusion between freedom and
the liberation of animals, it is believed that
a good concept, as freedom is, should not be ignored. Only
legal actions methods are supported. Here you find an explanation of the difference between
Animal Freedom and the Animal Liberation Front.
